Ametsub – Repeatedly

The official music video for Ametsub’s new single, relased by Mille Plateaux. Video by Lucio Arese.

Virtual 3d sets of blocks and morphing geometries representing glitches, harmonic and rhythmic structure of the music spread themselves through the streets and the buildings until they take over the entire cityscape. The film has been realized with an experimental, "faked" stop motion technique derived from standard footage elaboration, using multiple paces in order to maintain the synchronization with the soundtrack. Almost every frame of the video becomes a digital sculpture blended into the urban landscape.

The Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA) is producing an on-going series of animations in which academic lectures are combined with synchronised time-lapsed illustration. These quirky animations are both intellectually and visually engaging, with the audio and video working well to support each other and convey the message of the speaker.

Here are a couple of my favourites:

Professor Philip Zimbardo – The Secret Powers of Time

Dan Pink – Drive: The surprising truth about what motivates us

More videos in this series can be found on the RSA website.
