Making Future Magic – iPad light graffiti animation

The creative minds at Berg have come up with the most creative use of the iPad that I have seen so far – an awesome 3D light graffiti animation! Made in response to Dentsu London‘s question “What might a magical version of the future of media look like?” the video features 2D cross-sectional stills of 3D imagery, displayed on an iPad screen and physically moved by an animator while being photographed with a long exposure. The result is 3D text and images made of light which appear to hang in the air.
This is the first of two collaborations between Berg and Dentsu. I look forward to the second!

The amazing BLU, creator of the sensational MUTO graffiti animation is back with a new piece, reportedly shot over 3 months in locations across the world, including Bologna, Rome, Senigallia, Modena, Reggio Emilia, New York, Caracas and Buenos Aires. BLU describes it as "an unscientific point of view on the beginning and evolution of life … and how it could probably end."

To coincide with the relaunch of my website, I have decided to start a blog in which I will post updates on my progress as a post-production artist. I will also include interesting videos and other random cool things which I come across.
To start with, here are a couple of my long-time favourite videos:

Oren Lavie – Her Morning Elegance

– a beautiful stop-motion animated music video for Her Morning Elegance by Oren Lavie

– one of my favourite juggling/performance videos, a rotoscoped animation by Morgan Beringer featuring a great quality of movement from some well known object manipulators.

More videos to come soon…
